Cumulative Update

Many, many things have happened since my last post. Many. We bought a house, moved into it and began filling it with stuff (both ours and some new stuff) and working on it. This is in addition to both us working way too much. I wrote a number of proposals and delivered some hardware to the Air Force. Katie attended some conferences and has been training volunteers all over the place. This is in addition to doing her own thesis research. Somehow we also managed to cook tasty food, ride bikes and even go skiing.

True greatness: Bacon, hamburger, caramelized onions and crimini mushrooms.

Katie waits for corn o'clock  -- the snow was still frozen from the low overnight temperatures. There's a magic time when the spring  snow conditions are just right, not frozen but not slushy. It's called corn and you have to get up early to ski it on East facing slopes:
Katie preps the master bedroom. After years of dull walls, it's time to jazz things up a bit.
I was secretly hoping this color choice would cosmically assist the Celtics against the Heat, alas:
Oh, we also did some work on the floors. To be honest, it's kind of... relaxing doing this kind of work. No one is judging us but us, and if we do it wrong we can fix it.
After a long night of some kind of housework, we rewarded ourselves with strawberry shortcake. And I'm talking about the real stuff -- homemade whipped cream and "homemade" (i.e. Bisquick, but still) shortcakes:
Birthday bike ride -- Katie nears the top:
Why yes, I am having a good time, how did you know?
These babies are chocolate ganache-filled chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter frosting (except that half one in the photo, that's vanilla frosting, which is good, but the peanut butter  frosting was on a whole 'nother level).  Serious props (props? do kids still say that these days?) to Katie for making these.
The greatest cupcakes of all time? I say yes.
Sunset on Pete's Hill. This isn't us, because I took the photo, but you can pretend it is.
