Cumulative Update: September

Some stuff actually happened in Septermber. Katie and I went to Chicago, stayed with her brother Justin and his girlfriend Natalie, attended Stacie's wedding and then relaxed on the shores of Lake Michigan. My parents showed up in Bozeman and we hiked (and hiked and hiked), despite the thick smoke due to wildfires. Good times were had by all.

We rented this ridiculous bike and pedaled from Navy Pier to the Museum Campus. This was right about the time we stopped for a Chicago dog. Front row: Brant and Justin. Back row: Julie and Natalie.
<more after the break>

Lake Michigan sunset.

Hiking up the Beehive Basin trail, Lone Peak in the background. This was my parent's first day, so to get them acclimated we dragged them up over 9,000 ft.

I am taller than a mountain.

 Beehive Basin, it's pretty okay.

A couple days later we dragged them up Mt. Sacajawea (close to 10k ft.)

There was a family of mountain goats on the summit. Shortly after this was taken, some fools summited and didn't have their pitbull under control. It went after the goats and nearly was head-butted off the ridge (it would have been about 1,000 ft. down). We were, of course, rooting for the goats.

Katie scopes out the couloirs. Okay, I was scoping out the couloirs. It's a problem I have. Anyway, you can the trail we came up in the background.

After biking up to Hyalite Lake in August, we knew we had to hike it with my parents. Here's one reason why.

 My Mom and Dad at Hyalite Lake.

About 1/2 mile from the bottom of the trail (which is wide and gentle, but still), there is this rather ridiculous sign indicating that the trail is handicapped accessible.
